Pros and cons of Contractions Counter: pregnancy contraction timer app for iPhone and iPad

Contractions Counter: pregnancy contraction timer app good for

I have been researching pregnancy apps and this one is amazing. Very user friendly!
This is a fantastic app! Its easy to learn and use. The ability to capture, email, share the early moments of your little one getting ready to be born is great. Also, I love this as a teaching tool and a way to get dads involved. As a doctor, I endorse this app!
Using this to record contractions was great and it made things easier. I like the graphs a lot.
My wife is 8 months pregnant and has just started to have some minor contractions. This app is very easy to use and tells us exactly what we need to know. Great work!
We just used this to aid in the birth of our son. Take time to learn how to use it before the big day and you will be happy that you have this. To delete an entry, go to the log screen and click on the trashcan in the top right. Then you choose the entry to delete. The log is easy to show to your professionals for quick understanding, which is what you need when you are trying to have a baby. Love the notes feature to indicate changes with mom during labor process. We found that the big button was nice to have for a mom who didnt want to talk so she could either tap the button or give a nod to start. The save button could be bigger but is manageable. Would buy it at twice the price!
My water broke and I was in labor trying to count the minutes between my contractions to determine when to go to the hospital and I decided to find an app to help me. I looked at a few different ones but this looked simplest to use which was important as I didnt need a learning curve since I was already in labor. After I downloaded, immediately it was very easy to use and read the results of the time between contractions and how I was progressing. I cannot overstate how easy it was to use which was so important that day in the state I was in. Its a great value and was exactly what I needed when I needed it.

Some bad moments

While the interface was well designed, I found the app very confusing. In particular it seemed to be reporting your last contraction rather then averages. There are better free apps available
It times contractions but has a few annoyances and one deal-killer (see #3). 1. The button is nice and big, sure, but when you press Stop it pops up a menu for you to save the time. I just timed a contraction why are you asking me to save it? 2. One of the other options on this menu is Add Note, which must be the reason for the confirmation menu coming up in the first place. A nice feature, but I can also add the note from the log and report screen so stop asking me every single time. 3. The biggest problem by far is that the timer doesnt keep accurate time in certain situations. For example if you press Stop and then hit the popup button for Add Note (which I wont belabor since Ive complained about it enough already), the timer for time between contractions is not running! So if I spend 2 min putting in my note the next timing will be off by that amount. Same thing while the confirmation menu is up. There are a couple other situations where this arises but I didnt track them all down. Major bummer. 4. Minor but when you are between contractions it would be nice if it kept the time-between counter visibly running. Makes you think it is not working. Once you press Start again it jumps forward to show the interval time. 5. Minor as well but it is hard to discover how to bring up the actual graph. Its there in the upper right. I thought it was a logo. In summary a few usability problems and inaccurate timings. Maybe an update will make this app usable before our baby arrives.
This app would be great if it measured contractions correctly. It does not! This app measures frequency (the time between contractions) incorrectly. Frequency is supposed to be measured between the START of the first contraction and the start of the next. BEWARE - this app measures frequency from the END of the first contraction and the start of the next. This is wrong and could be dangerous - it might cause you to go to the hospital too late. DO NOT BUY!!!
This "iPad" app interface only works in portrait mode, unless youre in graph mode, then its up-side-down if youre using a standard case where youd want the volume on top. These major flaws null funtionality this app may offer. You guys need to go back and get the interface right. The iPad knows its orientation, so take advantage if that.
I have to disagree with the first bullet in the description, its not easy to stop and start. You have to press stop then save after every contraction which gets pretty annoying after forgetting to press save several times. Would be nice to have an automatic save option after I press stop. Since this is the primary function of the app and its making me want to find another app, I have to give it pretty low marks.
